“Don’t hit me now!”
I’m walking home, almost at my apartment, and I cross Q St. There’s a cab waiting at a red light full of drunken college kids, and the driver is turning around to talk to them, not paying attention or stepping on the break hard enough, so he’s inching forward towards me. I call out (casually, with a smile) “Don’t hit me now!” and keep walking. One guy says to the rest, “Oh, she’s fat! Wouldn’t matter if we hit her.”
