I was walking to the Metro this morning when a District meal delivery van drove by. A young man with dreads leaned out the window and shouted “MMM baby!” at me. In response I made a face and curled my lip, prompting him to yell “UGH baby!” I had forgotten that the very worst thing a woman can do to a man is make herself look unattractive to him. It takes away the pleasure from objectifying. I walked on un-phased, but surprised that the comically image conscious Fenty would allow District employees to think this behavior was acceptable.
