*YOU* Deserve to be Treated with Respect
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and we at CASS are lending our support!
Safe Bars and the DC Coalition Against Domestic Violence (DCCADV) collaborated on a new poster series that reminds *everyone* that they deserve to be treated with the respect. The posters, designed by Baltimore-bbased muralist Maura Dwyer, also provide resources for survivors of abuse.
The posters reference incidents that took place in the DC community this year—when a library officer kicked a woman out of the Shaw Library for wearing a hijab, when a library assistant at the Tenleytown Library warned a woman that she should reconsider breastfeeding in public spaces, and several cases where trans women were misgendered, and even assaulted.
We need your help! Volunteers are plastering these posters throughout the city—in bars, coffee shops, community centers, and other public spaces. Tell us in the comments where you’d like to see these posters!
We also encourage you to share your stories with us, or seek help and resources from DCCADV and the National Street Harassment hotline.
