Coming Soon: New Policy Posters
This Friday, September 21st, CASS is hosting Art Against Street Harassment, an event launching our 2018 Domestic Violence Awareness Month efforts. At the event, we’ll be debuting new posters to help advocate for our new policy platform which includes implementing the Street Harassment Prevention Act, decriminalizing sex work, decriminalizing fare evasion, increasing access to public restrooms, and making housing status a protected trait.
We hope you’ll join us Friday! In the meantime, we’re excited to preview our poster promoting #ItsNotFare, a campaign calling for the decriminalization of Metro fare evasion. The poster depicts Diamond Rust, a woman who was accused of fare evasion and subsequently attacked by an undercover cop on the W4 bus in February. At the time, Diamond was still a high school student with a valid DC One Card allowing her to ride public transit for free. During the attack, the police officer fractured her knee and broke four of her teeth. CASS is proud to stand with Diamond and work to ensure everyone has access to public transit.
We’re looking forward to revealing the rest of our new art later this week.
